The problem
Community banks compete against national institutions with vastly larger advertising budgets, on a product that is close to identical. Their genuine advantage is local standing, and that advantage is almost impossible to communicate through conventional advertising, which reads the same regardless of who runs it.
What we built
- —A nomination mechanic, so the community produced the content rather than the bank broadcasting at it.
- —A subject with real local weight — teachers — chosen because participation had to feel worth someone’s time.
- —Campaign structure that gave participants a reason to share with their own networks, extending reach without extending spend.
- —Positioning that kept the bank as the host rather than the subject, which is what separates community engagement from advertising wearing a costume.
Why it was built this way
A campaign that asks the community to celebrate its own people earns attention that a rate-focused advertisement cannot. The bank’s role was to convene it, not to star in it.
